Rock Candy Rocks!

Rock candy has a special charm which adds that extra flair to just about anything it's used for.  I try to incorporate it where I can when designing sweets displays. It gives a touch of colorful sparkle to the table. I am currently working on a little rock candy project for this weekend's Wedding Party Bridal Event. So I decided to share some pretty neat ways you that you can use rock candy for that extra special touch!
How cute is this rock candy cake?

Ok this chandelier is just amazing! DIY instructions on Once Wed

Rock candy is so pretty!  I'll be sure to share the results of my rock candy project next week.

Valentines Workshop

Happy Love Day all!!  I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am!  Speaking of enjoying... We had a great time at our 1st workshop at the studio!!  Christine of Olive Branch Papery and I created a cute Valentines workshop for the little ones. Parents were invited to bring their children to create a Valentines Day tablescape.  The kids had the a good time making love bug place cards, napkin rings, centerpieces, and valentines in preparation for their family Valentines Day dinner tonight! Check out how involved they were in their crafts! We can't wait to do it again!
Let the Crafting begin!
Bags filled with crafting goodies!
Hard at work!
Beaded love napkin ring
Love Bug placecards were at hit! Thanks Christine for finding this project, the kids loved it!
A pretty centerpiece created by one of our little crafters.
I could use some practice, but my tissue paper pom poms held up.
Snack time! Everyone had their own snacks in little treat bags.
Doily Cones filled with tortilla chips
Crackers filled with chocolate
Christine created the cutest  labels for the water bottles!
The kids and parents had a good time. So who's coming back next time.....
It seems like they wouldn't mind coming to the next workshop!
Happy Valentines Day!!

Doily Decor

Some may think of doilies as "old" and grandma-esqe. But you should know that what some may consider "old" is now new! I've always loved the dainty, delicate, feminine, feel of doilies. They remind me so much of lace, and you know how much I adore lace! This little sheet of intricately cut paper circles, are not only used to decorate the plates you place your deserts and cakes. Create your own party decor using doilies. They are also perfect for Valentines Day decor.

Doily Garland
I am working on a little doily garland for this weekend.  I'll be sure to share it when it's complete. Love this all of these! Martha Stewart of course.

Doily Pom Poms- Instead of tissue paper, use doilies! I have to try this one of these days.
Doily Luminaries

Found the final two photos on Esty. Check out Myhaleygirl etsy shop for more doily decor!

Game Day Goodies!

How cute is this Super Bowl set up!? I sure wouldn't mind being invited to this party.
Sandra Downie  of Sandra Downie Event Design really worked this table out!  She designed this Super Bowl Party display to work with any team on game day. This would also be great for a  little boys birthday party or even baby shower.  I'm loving the creative ways Sandra set up the game day goodies over at The White Library.

I am definitely one for the individual chips and dip! No double dipping happening here! :-) Love it!
How about this bite size mac & cheese in a cupcake cup! CUTE!!
Just about anything on a skewer will be a hit!

Check out Sandra's blog The White Library for details of the food and design. And more stunning displays!

Hugs and Kisses

It's that time of the year again, lots of love to share.  Share it with Hugs & Kisses!

Check out these yummy organic Chocolate & Vanilla Cookie Sandwiches from Organic Bouquet
Ok those cookies look delicious! But if you are looking for an economical option, a sugar cookie is a simple alternative. So whip out your stand mixer and DIY!  Follow the recipe from woman's day here

photo & recipe from womans day
Oh, you don't want to make your own?  Purchase ready made sugar cookie dough! Or an even simpler way to "make" hugs and kisses cookies...purchase store bought cookies and cut them out! Eventhough I may try my hands at baking and frosting cookies, I also get my semi-homeade on. :-)
Last Valentine's Day I used store bought cookies and cutters to make these X & O's cookies for our "Love of the Sea (food)" Valentines Day Lunch.

Don't be afraid to take short cuts!
