Hot Pink & Paisley Dinner Party

I'm back with the first celebration of the new year. This hot pink and paisley party was an intimate dinner in celebration of a 70th birthday. Giving limited time to plan (one week..yikes) we had to pull it together with materials that were readily accessible. With the holidays just coming to an end, I found this really pretty paisley wrapping paper as my inspiration and used it throughout the party. Paisley prints are very classic, elegant and punched up with hot pink details .....ta-da.. it worked perfectly for this 70th dinner party celebration!

Look Whoooo's Baptised

Owl themes are pretty popular these days, especially this time a year for graduations. This theme can be incorporated in just about any event. It's great for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, even a baptism. Yes, I incorporated owls into a recent baby boy's baptism. I kept it modern and pretty simple with a color palette of blue, green, yellow & white. Here's a look.

We incorporated the owl theme thoughout stationery, even on the menus

Blue Rosary beads were placed on the napkins of each setting

I kept the centerpieces simple by adding ribbon around the base of the vases and making tissue paper flowers

I'm a big fan of edible Favors

And to end the event on a sweet note...of course a small desert buffet! Treats included french macarons old fashion donuts, white chocolate dipped marshmallows, white chocolate covered pretzels, vanilla wafer sticks, cookies, and cake.

I would definitely love to incorporate owls for another event! And I will surely contact Christine of Olive Branch Papery for stationery again. She did an amazing job on the JC's Baptism! The personalized owl themed stationery pulled the event together nicely.

Spring is in full Swing!

If you missed my Spring Display on Celebrations at Home, here's your chance to catch up!

Remember this spring tablescape? Here's the sweets display to compliment the design.

Spring is now in Full "Swing"!

I selected a festive fabric and used it throughout my design. I selected a vibrant fabric as my starting point for the design. To reflect my theme, I used a serving tray as a "swing", and hung it using jute twine so it will be elevated above the table.

Sitting on the swing were can cakes wrapped with the same fabric used on the table and twine. Fresh rose petals were sprinkled on the swing for a fresh spring feel and to tie in with the centerpiece from the tablescape.

Some of the sweets included assorted gumballs in mini glass flower pots,

Lemon tarts,

Strawberry and vanilla cupcakes embellished with an edible DIY swirlpop cupcake topper made from marshmallow straws!

Last but not least, Lemon flavored water was a must to balance all the sweets on the table! Lemon yellow drinking straws were embellished fabric flags. Of course... the same fabric!

There's a few more weeks of Spring left.. Enjoy it!

Simple Spring Tablescape

Happy Friday!

What are you planning for Mother's Day this weekend? Are you putting together a special breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner for Moms on Sunday? I have a super simple, vibrant, tablescape I created in the spirit of celebrating Spring for my studio space. It's the perfect inspiration for designing your Mother's Day tablescape! Choosing a festive fabric was my starting point, and used it throughout my design.

This fabric definitely has a lot going on, but isn't it pretty? I paired it with a yellow gingham tablecloth..
so Spring!

Fabric wrapped around the centerpiece, gorgeous pink roses!

Adding interest, I paired a round dinner plate, with a square salad plate, and a fun fabric napkin set atop a rattan charger for texture.

In keeping with the spring feel, fresh herbs dill and rosemary were used as a parting favor.

This is perfect to double as a placecard, simply tie the name of your guest to the plant or set a tent card right in front.

As a prelude to the highly anticipated desert table, I added tiny cupcakes inside tealight holders for a taste of whats to come!

I'm ready for some margaritas! Who's having a Cinco De Mayo celebration? If you are looking for inspiration to get started, look no further! Chris from Celebrations at Home hit the nail on the head with her Mexican Fiesta! I'm totally loving the ruffle tablecloth (shower curtain) she combined with a traditional Mexican Serape Blanket used for her tablescape design.

LOVE THIS! The ruffles are the perfect compliment to the Mexican Serape Blanket. I have a blanket already, just have snag one of those curtains!

Candy Buffet: 21st Century Bride Event

The 21st Century Bride was an educational networking event for wedding industry professionals produced by Robert Allen & Holli Ehrlich of Wedding Podcast Network and Vanessa Ploski & Brian Lawrence Local Traffic Builder. Energy levels were kept high with many surprises throughout the day, snacks during intermissions, prizes, and the wealth of knowledge provided by the incredible panel of speakers. There were no dull moments at this event...definitely engaging! I had the pleasure of designing a vibrant display of sweet treats incorporating the logo colors for the attendees to enjoy on their way home. Take a look...

Foodie Friday: Chocolate Nests

Here's a little last minute treat perfect for your Easter gathering this weekend. Chocolate nests will add an extra Easter flair that's sure to please the palette of your guests. I made them for a Birds + Bees= Baby shower last year, and they were definitely a hit! These were made in a mini muffin pan. I placed a white chocolate covered cherry in the nest. I loved the contrast of the white chocolate against milk chocolate. You can use any small oval or round candy. This time of year you'll find all sorts of candy eggs that will work well. Jelly beans or Jordan almonds will also do the trick.

Include them on a sweets & treats table or wrap them up in cello treat bags as a party favor. Either way your event will end on a sweet note!

DIY Instructions

Supplies

Mixing bowl, chocolate melts, chow mein noodles, parchment paper,muffin pan

Directions

Melt chocolate

Mix melted chocolate and chow mein noodles in bowl

Line a muffin pan with parchment paper so the nests wouldn't stick

Mold the covered noodles into the muffin pan

Place in the fridge and let them set!

Wha -La.. Chocolate Nests!

Predicament: You've completed a set up for an event, or candy/desert display and looks great! Everyone is in love with your creation. Someone loves it so much, that they decide to take one of your decor props that's not a party favor! What would you do?

Solution- This actually happened to me! I kindly explained that it's a prop and not a part of the giveaway. I gave her another option by staring her in the direction of the party favors. Can you believe she told me that other people taking the props too! LOL!

My 2 Cents- Everyone loves free stuff, but some folks will try to take advantage of you. So if it's worth it, you sometimes have to be assertive, not aggressive, just assertive. If it's something you can easily replace, don't worry about it let it go.

"Tweet" Rice Krispies Treats

Ok so I thought I made pretty decent rice krispies treats, but mine doesn't compare to the team over at Aly & Ash. I came across this incredibly cute Easter Rice Krispies display on Birds Party Blog and was immediately smitten. I had to share!

DIY: How to create Rock Candy Topiary Balls

Check out how I made the rock candy balls for the candyabra? It's simple! Here's what you'll need.

Gather your supplies....

Styrofoam ball, aluminum foil, confectioners sugar, meringue powder, frosting coloring, Popsicle stick

Just in case you get the urge to pull off a piece of candy from the ball and eat it, use sugar as the glue! For edible topiary ball, first cover the ball with foil.

Mix sugar, meringue power, coloring, and water.

Mix to a thick paste like consistency, add sugar to thicken so it's not runny

Map out the surface by drawing a circle where ball will be placed, and work around the area

I elevated the ball by placing it on top of a cup, while placing the sugar mixture then rock candy on the ball

Repeat until ball is fully covered. For an even easier way to create this, simply whip out your glue gun and stick the rock candy onto the ball and Wha-La!

Candy Buffet: A Thing for Bling

I'm sure you notices the jars of sweets alongside the candyabra from the Rock Candyabra post the other day. I used it as the centerpiece of a candy display I created for a The Wedding Party bridal showcase earlier this year. So what will capture the attention of newly engaged brides. Bling of course! "A thing from Bling" was designed to interpret the glitz of the rock on an engagement ring, and the sweet love it represents. I chose a color palette of hot pink, black & white damask, and sparking accents. Sweets were embellished with a touch of bling to reflect the theme. "Bling" Pops, Mini Cinnamon buns set atop a cake stand dripping with jewels, bite size Cupcakes topped with "rock" candy, Cake Pops tied with a sparkly set of wedding bands, Bride & Groom custom cookies by Batches, and the piece de resistance, a Rock Candyabra set the stage for a Glitzy sweets display perfectly fit for a Bride to be!

The Rock Candyabra took center stage on the table and was certainly the most talked about piece of the night. The Bling pops came in a close second, which were totally gone before I got a full photo of the table.

DIY: Rock Candyabra

You are probably wondering what in the world is a candyabra? It's my version of a candleabra made sweet! A friend of mine had a tarnished candelabra tucked away in her garage, not being used. I volunteered to clean it up and make it shine again. Rock candy always makes a pretty presentation, so I thought why not combine the two and breathe new life into this lack luster piece. All it took was time, TLC, and some imagination and wha-la... a Sweet new Candyabra was born!

A little elbow grease didn't hurt.. here's the before and after.. nice and shiny!

I removed the hanging crystals to make room for rock candy crystals! Don't worry the crystals were put to good use. Stay tuned, I'll highlight them later.

The finished product outfitted with rock candy topiary balls and rock candy crystal!

I loved the way it turned out.. Pretty Sweet!

How about starting off your day with a hot breakfast? It is the most important meal of the day, but not if it begins like this! How do you like your eggs? Sunny side up? NOT.... April Fools! This hot homemade breakfast of bacon,eggs, and toast, is not what it seems. These eggs are made of vanilla yogurt with a canned apricot cut in half, toast made from toasted pound cake slices, and bacon from sour candy strips. It's not quite the breakfast of champions huh? Try not to be fooled today! ;-D

Insane for Trains

A few weeks ago, I created a fun sweets table for my nephew's 4th birthday party. This was a VERY last minute party put together in a week! My nephew is a Thomas the Train fanatic! So of course it had to be the theme for his party. I incorporated trains and the Thomas color palette to set the scene for his treats. With the help of Christine from Olive Branch Papery who designed all of the paper products, I managed to pull together a festive sweet treat Thomas the train inspired display at the 11th hour! Some of the sweets include Cupcakes, Gumballs, Tootsie Rolls, Chocolate Twizzler "Train Tracks", Cookies, Rice Krispy Treat Pops, Swirl Pops.. lots of sugar!

Rock Candy Rocks!

Rock candy has a special charm which adds that extra flair to just about anything it's used for. I try to incorporate it where I can when designing sweets displays. It gives a touch of colorful sparkle to the table. I am currently working on a little rock candy project for this weekend's Wedding Party Bridal Event. So I decided to share some pretty neat ways you that you can use rock candy for that extra special touch!

Valentines Workshop

Happy Love Day all!! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am! Speaking of enjoying... We had a great time at our 1st workshop at the studio!! Christine of Olive Branch Papery and I created a cute Valentines workshop for the little ones. Parents were invited to bring their children to create a Valentines Day tablescape. The kids had the a good time making love bug place cards, napkin rings, centerpieces, and valentines in preparation for their family Valentines Day dinner tonight! Check out how involved they were in their crafts! We can't wait to do it again!

Some may think of doilies as "old" and grandma-esqe. But you should know that what some may consider "old" is now new! I've always loved the dainty, delicate, feminine, feel of doilies. They remind me so much of lace, and you know how much I adore lace! This little sheet of intricately cut paper circles, are not only used to decorate the plates you place your deserts and cakes. Create your own party decor using doilies. They are also perfect for Valentines Day decor.

Damask is one of my all time favorite prints! It dresses up just about anything! Andrea from Pocket full of Parties sent over a New Years Eve party she hosted for her family, featuring black & white damask with accents of red. The color palette is quite popular this time of year, as Valentines Day is right around the corner! In fact I used this very color combo (yes, outfitted with damask) for my 2010 Valentines Day dinner set up. Here are the details told by Andrea..

A week before New Year's Eve, I decided to throw a 'Pocket Full of Parties' family-centered event at my house with my friends and their children. After considering many themes and colors schemes, I ultimately went for black and white damask with red accents. This has been my favorite color combination since I was a very little girl :) The great thing about it is that it is also versatile...this scheme, these colors, and the printables I used could be used for many occasions, from birthdays, to weddings, to bridal showers, to dinner parties, etc.
I collaborated with Little Ladybug Designs, www.littleladybugdesigns.com, who created all of the DIY printables for me.
Once I chose this theme, the rest was easy! I love party design, and I love shopping for and/or crafting party decor. With the "help" of my two year old (who pretended to craft things while I was doing so), the party was put together with class and style in 5 days! :)

My party guests were so thankful to be invited to a kid-friendly New Year's party and raved about the decor, desserts, and food. Such a proud moment for me and my family!

Welcome to 2011! Did you party like a Rockstar last weekend? You didn't? No biggie...I'm sure you enjoyed however you chose to celebrate!! I'm looking forward to a wonderful year full of Fetes and Celebrations to share! In fact, I have a Rocking Sweets Buffet to share with you. Last Fall I had the pleasure of designing a Sweets Buffet for the cutest little 6 year old "Rockstar". In our initial meeting, I found out she loved animal prints ( a girl after my own heart)! I wore an animal print scarf and she expressed how much she loved it! So you know I just had to include a print for her!
I decked out her display with lots of fuchsia, pink, purple, and or course, zebra print! Here's a look at how it turned out.

Sweets and Treats Menu

Cotton Candy Candy Corn. (One of the little boys in attendance said the candy corn was his favorite part of the party!)

Ok, these little white chocolate covered marshmallow pops were also a huge hit with the kids.

I added extra flair to the pops, using a bit of bling atop colored straws! Just a fresh twist on the traditional lollipop sticks.

Little Rockstars must have electric guitars!

Filled with jelly beans of course!

Which little girl doesn't love a fuchsia feather boa?! And a special backdrop for the little Rockstar!

Black -eyed Peas Parfaits

Tradition has it that Black-eyed peas are served on New Years Day as a symbol of good luck. In some Southern traditions, a dime is buried among the black-eyed peas before serving. If you find the dime in your serving you will have good luck throughout the year. OK...I'm not really a huge fan of the legume, but if served in a cute festive way, I may just have to try it. Plus I wouldn't mind some good luck in 2011! How about serving up these black eyed peas parfait (maybe in smaller portions per guest) at your New Years event so all of your guests will have a year of good luck!

Ingredients

2 bacon strips, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 cups chopped red or green bell pepper
1/4 cup diced onion
1 tomato, chopped
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups fresh or frozen black-eyed peas
3 cups chicken broth
2 cups cooked rice
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
Sour cream and cherry tomatoes (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, saute the bacon for 5 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup of the bell pepper, the onion, the chopped tomato, the chili powder, the salt and pepper, and the black-eyed peas. Pour in the broth and bring the mixture to a low boil, then simmer it uncovered for 1 hour or more, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is absorbed.

Layer the peas, rice, cheese, and remaining bell pepper in parfait glasses. Top with sour cream and a cherry tomato. Serves 6 to 8.

It'll work..it's just as pretty, and you'll be safe and warm in the comforts of your home.

You don't have to break the bank purchasing gifts this season. Homemade gifts giving from the heart are greatly appreciated when it's from the heart. I love receiving and sharing homemade gifts. Last year I made an assortment of cookies and packaged them in decorative tins, and a homemade spiced rub packaged in a cute little spice jar with holiday ribbon.
Yesterday I shared hot chocolate station ideas, today how about a homemade hot chocolate gift! Love it!
For stylish packaging, put chocolate mix into a bag, tie with festive ribbon and nestle it into mug, don't forget the marshmallows!

Bottoms Up: White Chocolate Eggnog!

How good does this look!? Ok ,so I love all of the ingredients! Perfect for the holidays!! Check it out...

8 servings

1 quart egg nog

1/2 cup white rum, such as Myer’s Platinum

1/2 cup white chocolate liqueur

1 cup whipped topping

Grated white chocolate, for garnish

Pumpkin Pie Spice, for garnish

Directions

In a large pitcher combine egg nog, rum and white chocolate liqueur. When you are ready to serve, whisk the egg nog to make it frothy and pour the mixture into cups. Place a heaping tablespoon of the whipped topping into each cup. Garnish each with the grated white chocolate and a sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice

I love apothecary jars, fill them up with all things festive for the season

This should be fairly simple to recreate! Put your pillar and taper candles to use!

Simple and elegant, you don't have to use PB pinecone candles for this setting. Use plain pinecones, they come a dine a dozen, very inexpensive!

I have lots of candles and apothecary jars, so I think I'll combine the two and see what I come up with.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is rolling around so soon! I know everyone is preparing for their Thanksgiving menu, I'll be away this year. But... last year around this time I was not only thinking about what I'll serve for the big dinner, but what I'll transform my left over Thanksgiving dinner into the next day. Yep.. that's right, you read it correctly. The day after we packed on the pounds for Thanksgiving, we packed on some more pounds with the left overs! I called it After Giving Thanks Remix Dinner. This was one of my favorite gatherings with my girls, and thought it would be fitting to share it with you (again), and those new to my blog. So don't just make turkey sandwiches after Thanksgiving.. get inspired and REMIX IT UP!

The decor was also "remixed"! Leaves, nuts, and branches.were found in my backyard!

My Pretty in Purple Sweets Display was created for A Princess For A Day fundraiser highlighted in the previous post. When you think of princess, what comes to mind? Girly.. right? I wanted this design to interpret girly, but still exude sophistication. As I promised.. Pretty in Purple Sweets displayed with precious details that has a special place in my heart. Lots of mirrored details and delicate hobnail glassware! I totally Love!!

A Princess for a Day Event!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending A Princess For A Day fundraiser event at the oh so sophisticated Room Service Lounge in NYC. Remember this pretty in purple photo from last weeks sneak peak? Well I have all of the photos ready for posting! But first, here's a little background on the event. A Princess For A Day is an amazing not-for-profit organization that promotes the importance of education by rewarding underprivileged high school students who achieve exceptional grades, an outstanding prom experience! A deserving Princess will be rewarded with prom day hairstyling, make-up, dress alterations, transportation, a photographer, and the pièce de résistance, a stunning gown worn by a celebrity! The first Princess received a fabulous gown from Oscar nominated actress, rapper, and singer Queen Latifah! Which high school student wouldn’t want to wear a celebrity gown to their prom? A Princess for a Day will make it happen! Find out exactly how it’s done on APFAD website.

The event was hosted by actor/comedian Guy Torry, who kept the crowd laughing.

Check out this Eclectic Glass Bottle Set it's on sale. Oh, so you don't want to spend on empty bottles? Well get your DIY on! I'm sure you have some wine bottles laying around.. Hmm? After you enjoy the wine ( or whatever was inside the bottles) strip the labels, wash it up and Wha-La!

You can drop some cranberries, leaves, corn kernels, or what ever you can find seasonal in the bottle. It'll add a bit of extra Flair to the display.

Ok so where are your 2 cents when I need it? Folks always want to put in their 2 cents when they are not asked. Well, here's your opportunity....

Predicament: You have a color palette in mind for a party, right? So now you want to give your client a choice, but they choose the colorway that you weren't so crazy about. What do you do? What's your 2 cents??

I don't have a solution and lesson learned for this one, because I didn't actually experience it full on. But if you have, please share experience.. Solution and Lesson Learned if any.

I would make a suggestion and say why I like one over the other. But ultimately it's the clients decision.

Foodie Friday: Pumpkin Shake & Smoothie

And I love it! Anyone have a great pumpkin drink recipe to share? I do! Two of them and they're simple too! I love just about anything made with pumpkin. I've had all warm pumpkin dishes, deserts, soup, drinks, but what about cold pumpkin beverages? Check out this simple recipe from family fun! It seems really simple, you should try it!

Pumkpkin Smoothie

Ingredients

1/2 cup canned pumpkin
3/4 cup milk or vanilla yogurt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. brown sugar
4 ice cubes

Directions
Combine ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.
Pour the smoothies into small glasses (this drink is rich) and garnish each with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped topping. For a fun touch, add a pinch of cinnamon or a few colored sprinkles. Serves 2 or 3.

This one is a must try!
Pumpkin Milkshake

Ingredients

1 gingersnap, crushed
1 tablespoon caramel sauce
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup milk
2 Tablespoons pumpkin puree
2 ounces White Chocolate Liqueur
1 ounce vanilla vodka
Pinch pumpkin pie spice
Whipped cream

Directions

Place crushed gingersnap in a shallow dish. Coat rim of a glass in caramel sauce and dip in gingersnaps.
In a blender, combine ice cream, milk, liqueur, vodka, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice. Blend until smooth. Pour into prepared glass and top with a generous amount of whipped cream.
*Make kid friendly by leaving out the White Chocolate Liqueur and Vanilla

Guests chose from an array of apple treats including fresh apples(healthy sweet),candy apples, popcorn carmel apple crunch, shortbread cookie spoons of apple pie,and apple lollipops! I also included a dried fruit & nuts trail mix for those without a sweet tooth. The dried fruit also complimented the color scheme :-).

An Autumn Affair.. The Decor

I love the seasons of the northeast!! It's Fall, and time for apple picking and delicious apple eats and drinks! So how appropriate was it that I used apples to style an Au tum Affair recently? No flowers necessary at this event! Tons of apples did the trick! I started with a rich tones of orange, deep red, cream and brown. For stationary, I found orange cardstock with a sweet cream damask (I love damask!) print to the bottom. I sent the invitation along with a little inspiration board to the cake designer. Christine of Design Cakes did an AMAZING job with the cake! Inspired by the invitation, Christine designed a cream two layered cake with an orange damask cut out. She also included a delicate branch with berries placed on each layer of the cake...SWEET! Let me tell you.. it was PERFECTION! Ok enough of my blabbering.. onto the pictures!

Tablescape, Hurricane held a pillar candle wrapped with skeleton leaves, surrounded by berries. The burlap table runner was a must have!

Ambiance, mini hurricane votive holders mimicked the large centerpiece, with a maple leaf tucked below an orange votive. Red and orange skeleton leaves floating along with a candle.

Drink of the Evening.. Apple Peach Passion Punch. I also used the orange damask for the drink menu. Signature drinks are always a hit!

The super talented Carla of Blooming Studios opened a new location and kindly asked me to participate in her open house. Of course I gladly accepted! 2 Cents Tuesday: New Segment!

I'm sure you've all heard that it's ok to make a mistake as long as you learn from them, right? Well... this segment is all about our experiences, mishaps, silly mistakes and quagmires that comes along with event design & planning, and how we solved them. Share with us your design dilemma's, customer quandaries, catering conundrums, and event horror stories!
After every event, I try to document what I could have, should have, and would have done better (**rolling my eyes**). We can learn from each others mistakes and experiences!! Do you have an experience you would like to share? I would love to hear your 2 cents from lessons learned!! Here's mine to start!!

Predicament- When setting up a desert/candy buffet display for a party, I discovered that something was wrong with the table the venue provided. The tables were too darn small for my display! So I put two of them together. Not a problem.. right? WRONG! Of course the tables were also uneven!! I must have the worst luck with tables, cause this happened to me more than once!

Solution- I put a book under the table cloth to even out the section that was low.
Lesson Learned- Never rely on the venue to provide tables for your displays!

My 2 Cents- Invest in a table or two that will accommodate your design specifications. Come equipped with your own table when setting up your displays! Have any advice for me? Add your 2 cents!

Which little girl doesn't like Hello Kitty? My niece recently ask me for a water dispenser(yeah..I was wondering why too), and I found a Hello Kitty one.. too cute! She was beyond thrilled! Take a look at this Hello Kitty inspired party designed by Bird from Bird Crafts had me at "Hello!" Since Hello Kitty is a license brand, Bird put her own spin on it and turn it into a super girlie Tea Party! It is the sweetest party for a little girl. Every little girlie detail is so darling. From the plush flowers to the pink milk, love it! I know my niece would go nuts over this too!

So, I had the cake designed to reflect the theme, and since we loved the invitation, I thought it would be cute to worked play off of it. So here's the invitation again..

And here's the cake! This is what the Birds and Bees gave us! And it was mighty tasty.

You guys should know I love swizzle sticks.Right? Well if you are new to my blog. I Love 'EM! So I just had to incorporate them!

A few weeks ago we welcomed (proud to say) my very first God son! I'm so honored and excited to be name the godmother of my cousin's baby boy. Now you know.. I had to style and hosted his baby shower, right. I was stung by the nesting and bee inspiration all around the web. I was also feelin' terrariums so I had to include them. I call this style organic whimsy. :-). I have TONS of pics to share, and still going through them. Its difficult picking from a million and one photos. So I'll start with some of the decor details. I started out with this oh so cute invitation! I had a vision of a cartoon-esque bird + bee = a baby, and the designer brought it to life! She hit the nail on the head I tell ya!
I love the way the blue honeycomb background turned out.

We welcomed guests with a signature drink and pacifier necklace. They were forbidden to say the word baby or the guest of honor's name. If anyone was caught saying either of the two, their necklace would be taken away. It's a spin off the clothes pin baby shower game.

You know I love to "dress my drinks" right.... Teeny Tiny pacifiers embellished the drinking straws, along with blue sugar rimmed glasses.

Do you like taking home the centerpiece from events? Why? What are you going to do with it when you get home? I get it.. some folks like to display it at home if it's a nice one, right? Then you throw it out when the flowers die. That's all good. How about a double duty centerpiece, allowing you to throw out the flowers and repurpose the container? Here's some sweet black raspberry inspiration from the centerpiece I created.

Double Duty Baby Shower Centerpiece

This summer I was given an opportunity to tap into my inner florist.:-) I was asked to incorporate lavendar and lightblue into a centerpiece, for a babyshower honoring a mommy to be having a baby girl. I created it using lavender and white cushion mums, wheatgrass, tinny tiny baby bottles, placed in little galvanized tubs. The host wished to give them away to guests. So I wanted something that will serve double duty. I chose the cute galvanized tubs that housed the flowers and can also act as a beverage bucket. The flowers looked great in it, and a deserving guest can use it for entertaining or whatever they find fit! I love the way they turned out!

Ok so there it is..my attempt at baby shower cookies. I didn't do this in years, but it turned out ok. I kinda forgot which consistency works better for the outline, and fill.. hence the little frosting drip on the footprint in the back. I have to sharpen my skills! But I'm still proud of myself.
